What is the Remote Interface License for and how is it delivered? | Panther 1-Wire Programmer FAQ | Forum

The Remote Interface License enables the Panther Programmer to be controlled remotely over the USB port.  It must be purchased if you want to control the programmer via LabVIEW or a different programming language from a PC.  This is useful when the programmer is to be used in an automated production process.  We provide the LabVIEW driver free of charge, but the remote license must be purchased to enable the programmer for remote use.  We also provide a free standalone application here to use the programmer remotely.

When the Remote Interface License is purchased, it is distributed as a single license file that is loaded onto the SD card of the unit when shipped.  If the license file is present on the SD card when the unit is powered on, the license is validated and the remote interface mode is activated on the unit.  The license can always be purchased at a later time as an add-on and we will email the license file which you can copy to the unit’s SD card, which will activate this feature without having to send it back to us.

The Remote Interface License is NOT required if you will just be using the touchscreen interface on the unit to read/write 1-Wire devices and don’t need to control it via the USB port.
